3 Most Common Home Security Devices

For many, finding the right home security devices is priority number one. This can be the case no matter if you have been living in a home for many years, or just moved in. Once you have the right home security devices in place you will feel much better about the overall safety of you and your family – and that is a very big deal.

It is important to learn as much as you can about common home security devices, including which ones are right for your home. Depending on how your home is setup and what you are trying to accomplish, the devices that you use may not be the same as the next person.

Here are three of the most common home security devices:

  1. Door Sensors. These are among the most important components of a successful system. With door sensors in place, your alarm is activated when a burglar attempts to enter your home. Generally speaking, door sensors are made up of two distinct pieces: the part that connects to the door frame and the part that connects to the door. When a burglar attempts to open a door with a sensor, magnetic contact is broken which then sounds the alarm.
  2. Window Sensors. Just like door sensors there are those that you can put on windows. There are two types of window sensors that are common among home security systems: glass breakage detectors and magnetic sensors. With a magnetic sensor, when a window is opened the alarm is activated. A glass breakage detector is just what it sounds like. When glass breaks the sensor picks up the nose, which in turn activates your alarm.
